We developed the calendar from research we conducted in a pasture which had been planted with alien grass in the 1970s: this grass had stubbornly prevented all processes of natural forest regeneration. We experimented with several trees species, to identify those which could out-grow the grass and attract seed-dispersing birds and bats, thus re-establishing natural successional dynamics and letting Nature take over the work. We have updated the calendar for 2015 and present it here electronically. The original calendar was prepared and printed with the support of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UN-FAO) and the National Forest Programme Facility.
