The role of the Gateway (also known as the Data bus diagnostic interface J533) is the exchange of data between the CAN data bus systems (‘powertrain CAN data bus’, ‘convenience CAN data bus’ and ‘infotainment CAN data bus’) and the conversion of diagnostic data from CAN data bus systems to K-cable and vice versa so the data can be used by vehicle diagnosis, testing and information systems like the dealer VAS tools and Vagcom/VCDS. For various reasons including power drain issues with third generation head units or the addition of new unsupported modules the CAN bus gateway must be upgraded to a newer revision. This guide covers the replacement of the CAN bus gateway in a 2005 MY06 Volkswagen Golf GTI. The upgrade replaces the 1K0 907 530 E (1K0907530E) with a 1K0 907 530 AA (1K0907530AA). This process works the same for most Volkswagen models. 1K0 907 530 E (1K0907530E) Revision: 11 1K0 907 530 AA (1K0907530AA) Revision: H16 Record current installation list and long coding Take screen shots or make a note of your installation list in controller 19 – Can Gateway using Vagcom/VCDS. This step is critical unless you want to figure out what you had installed prior to the upgrade.
Don’t be tempted to copy down the long code unless you are installing the exact same revision of gateway as different revisions have extra features. Whilst not essential it is worth taking a screen shot of the different screens in the long coding. Removing and Installing the Gateway Remove the key from the ignition or disconnect the car’s battery (the battery disconnect is optional but better safe than sorry) Remove the footwell cover on the drivers side where the gateway is located –. The gateway can be in two locations on the Golf. One is above the accelerator pedal and the other is above the clutch pedal (if fitted).

The clutch pedal location was used for the first year or so of production. MY05 gateway location Removing • Release the connector and pull the connector off the data bus diagnostic interface. • Press three securing pins together and push out of holes to release or the holder is hinged and release that.
Installation • Install in the reverse order of removal. Reconnect the battery MY06 onwards gateway location Removing • Release the connector (1) and pull the connector off the data bus diagnostic interface (2). • Press securing pins (3) together (see arrows) and push out of holes to release. Installation • Install in the reverse order of removal. Reconnect the battery Coding the new gateway Using the screen shots and notes from earlier you can now recode the gateway. Below are screenshots showing the differences between the two gateways (old gateway on the left and new gateway on the right.
Hello, I used your instructions for upgrading the gateway on my mk5 golf. I have a couple of issues which hopefully you can help me with or point me in the right direction. The guy that installed it told me that he was not able to access the navigation settings in vag com after installing.
Also, when I drove off in the car, the dash board light for bulbs came on and the rear fog light appears to have stopped working. Can you please help as I want to keep the stereo in the car if possible?
Thanks, David •. Just in case someone is searching for the Gateway location in a VW Golf Plus MK5, RHD,, 57 reg, engine code BUD, it is not above the clutch, it is not above the accelerator, it is not behind the instrument cluster and it is not behind the ashtray or ESP button. I’ve looked last week for 4 hours for it, without success; although I have the complete VW repair manuals from VW’s Erwin system, but they are useless regarding Gateway location, because it seems that VW fits it all over the place 🙁 Today, I’ve eventually found it, after reading a comment that someone found his behind the CECM (Central Electronics Control Module). IT IS BEHIND THE PASSENGER SIDE GLOVE COMPARTMENT!!! Once you know where it is, it is replaced and reprogrammed in less than an hour 🙂 I’ve upgraded from 1K0907530K revision H04 0021 to 1K0907530AF revision H17 0233. Coding was not a problem.
The old K-version had coding 3D3F03 and for the new AF-version, I’ve used E982009003.
The SDBOOT recovery is not the normal firmware upgrade for wince units, this is intended to be the procedure: - to recover your s100 unit after a bad fw flash - to switch back to wince an S100 unit previously converted to android(only if running firmware till or a 2.34 fw) - to convert an S150 android unit to wince (only if running firmware till or a 2.34 fw) First you need a firmware for your unit, possibly the original one made just for your cxxx unit. If you don't have the original firmware you can adapt another unit firmware using this tool: (this is the version for newer 1.x.9 serie of fw). Simply put the exe in the same folder where you have extracted the fw files and run it; select your model and hit ok. Anyway your fw will not be safe enought until you find the correct MCU.bin for your unit, so i recommend to use always an MCU that you know it work ok for you. Second you need this package: and a possibly new SD card (2-4Gb). If you don't have a new SD i suggest you to use the to fully erase all the partitions you could have created using sd-flasher or other tools. Once you have a clean SD card you can format it in fat32 using the sdformatter app included in the sdboot archive and label it 'SDBOOT' (this is important!).
My problem was the card corrupted. I could make the whole process of the card, but when I went to install the center, would not leave the calibration screen, so I went to the file 'update' and changed the line to 'true' to 'false'. After that, I restarted the process and everything was installed correctly.. I was sad because I had really liked the android, but it was very unstable, and my device is still under warranty. When a more stable version of android I come back to install.. I could only do this because of your help, thank you.
I will make a donation to your site. Hi KoTix, unfortunately I flashed a wrong firmware/software on my C096 unit. I have the same problem like some others.
White screen fading black with some colored stripes on the right. I flashed the following firmware that doesn't match: mydean-V5.7.1.4 Z0AL S00E ADSet / define id='279' derivativeID='0' name='C279', openLogo id='2', LCD id='5', ADFunc id='0' Result: Yellow screen (please see image here under): Update NK success. Run WINCE now. I waited 30 minutes, and nothing was happening.
So I decided to reboot the unit. After that I can reboot the unit, but I always get a black screen with stripes. I have tried to update firmware again with the SDBOOT. I also did the TouchExe run='false' and waited 30min. My Unit is: C096 - S100 ADSet / define id='96' derivativeID='0' name='C096', openLogo id='25', LCD id='1', ADFunc id='0' I think it is because of the flashed wrong display setting. However - I have no idea how to recover. I am not sure if the WinCE SD Card boots in the unit because when I try it in the notebook it sais 'Missing operating system' I started the flash update because of this error: 'Application Platform.exe encountered a serious error and must be shut down' Before I had this firmware running with this error when booting up: OS Version: S100-UNI.A20140721-A2.2 App Version: S100-V1.6.9.13 MCU Version: TONM S00E C096 Do you have some idea / advice?
Cheers Weltall. I checked this. The radio always boots to a tuner mode. Eset Nod32 7 Key Generator Crack Serial. I see the radio station in my boardcomputer. I can use all steering wheel controls. (volume + change frequence) Even my mobile phone is connected via bluetooth to the unit. But the display is black with the colored stripes on the right.
If I boot the unit normal with the BOOT SD in the GPS slot - it is booting to the tuner anyway. If I boot the unit with SRC key pushed while resetting - it beeps and the display stays white with some colored stripes. In this mode there is no steering wheelt control and no button works. But I think even in this mode there is no firmware update done. It's very difficult without a display.
Do you have any idea? Can I flash the unit in another way? Maybe via USB? Can I install another monitor/display on the back end cinch video out? Should the SDBOOT SD boot in my notebook? Because it does not.
It sais 'Missing operation system' I have got a C096 unit. PgUp Hello, i have the same/similar problem. I have install Kotix Android - latest version 2.6 from 24 June. Maybe i've tried install new version without boot, but with no success. With the same reason as Kotix I decided turning back i buy excellent skins from Kotix, but booting has crashed. Everything seems normal, until rebooting and loading WINCE.
I see logo, after several seconds few beeps and logo delicate blinks and turns on radio station, but still is logo on the screen, without the system. Buttons are not lighting without src. I've tried boot it again, I've downloaded newest version of firmware - the same result.

Maybe using the 2.34 bootloader it will show something, this is the message i had from russia: We need to do the test. Making a bootable sd card for android 2.3.4 Card no more than 4GB.
Is transferred to the card any firmware android 2.3.4 Inserted in the GPS slot, turn the unit on. Should start flashing. Not important S100 or S150. If the firmware is, as usual, then wait for the end.
If this device S100 after that flashed android 4.0.3 Accordingly, prepare a bootable sd card for android 4.0.3 If at the beginning of the firmware returns an error Unable to mount /cash. Interpretation specialist. ---------- boot sd card android 2.3.4 firmware You can identify the problem Can't help more then this. That was a great idea.
I used the manual and files found here: And. It booted from the SD and showed an android bot logo. The error is: E:failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory) E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/upgrade_cmd E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory) -- Install /sdcard. E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory) E:Can't mount /sdcard/update_sd.zip Installation aborted. Upgrade error. The crazy thing is - when I remove the SD card - there is no more partition on the card. If I want to reproduce the error I have to prepare the card again.

Anonymous Hello KoTIX, I have the latest version of Android 20141011 on my S150 and I tried to go to wince.
After putting the prepared sdcard in the gps slot, I only had a black screen and nothing will work. Even if I take card out. I even tried the sdboot process again with a new sdcard and still nothing. I get in contact with my dealer located in UK.
They told me that there will be no possibility to downgrade or to change from android to ce. Tried also the SD-Flasher from carnaviplayer.com, with no result. Only your S150 4.03 KoTiX_v2.7 works, S150 4.03 KoTiX_v2.6 not.
Astonishing is that my dealer offers the s150 with android or ce. Do you have any suggestion how to change from android to ce?
Thanks for your help and with best regards. Thanks for the fast response! Yes, I thought about that, and did it.
I figured that since the touch is not responsive, the update could hang waiting for some input for the calibration. But even so, it did not work (at least not after 10 minutes - would it need more time? Download Aplikasi Penangkap Sinyal Wifi Untuk Pc.
Other things I could try? What precisely happened when I pressed the MCU button?
If it matters, the MCU version listed in the firmware was not EXACTLY the same as the mcu version in the device (both were C017, but the one in the device started with P0NN S00 blah blah and the one in the fw started with something else, even though both ended in C017). My S150 is Build number IML74K-20140822. I tried converting to the latest S100 for my model (I008 to C008) using your instructions, but I only got 'black screen', with no visible activity after inserting the BOOTSD and powering on my unit. After several more attempts I gave up and removed the BOOTSD.
My unit can still power on to Android, but I would definitely like to convert to WinCE. You mentioned earlier in the thread that you may have another bootloader that might work with S150 firmware after 06/06. Any chance you can share that with me?
Hi KoTix, I have S100-UNI.A20140721-A2.2; APP: S100-V1.3.9.0; MCU: N0NM S00E C241.I try with 3G dongle Huawei S173s-2. The system recognized it and make 3G connection, 3G icon present on the screen, but when I start the browser Opera mini and try for example with www.gogle.com or other, then massage is: Review yor internet sttings. The internet settings on the dongle are correct, because on the laptop dongle working without no problem. I think that on my system missing driver for that dongle. If you can help me please do it! And what firmware I can use to update my system with more new firnware?
Thanks before hand! Jasafello I tried to install.
But in the screen appears 'illegal upgrade'. I installed an older version 1.8.9.18. But I have the same problem as last time. When I push the buttons on the wheel, it jumps 2 songs or 2 radio stations. I change it at low impedance at settings, but does the same. I can't patch, appears a message ' this patch is forbidden in this software'.
I don´t know to do. I like your skins but if the S100 doesn't work correctly with the original firmware. Have you any idea? I only have one, downgrade to a stable firmware.
